When our eyes close in darkness,
What a sight…we shall behold;
A light so bright…so very bright,
All that shines around us…as gold.
Nothing to fear…total peace,
All cares are left behind;
From the heaviness…we’ve escaped,
Now, we can soar…we can shine!
Are we sad?…not a bit,
All our tears are wiped away;
This is what’s called Heaven,
This is where we shall…forever stay.
Oh, sadness…for sure,
For those who are left;
But, they cry for their loss,
That’s why they are bereft.
To grieve…that is normal,
It will soon pass…you see;
A new thought will replace it,
For, we’re at rest and happy as can be.
When our loved-ones look deeper,
When they know what it’s all about;
They will be happy for us,
Yes, happy…without a doubt.
And, have we truly left them,
Are they here…all alone?
I think not…because, you see,
Now, their understanding has grown.
We’re still here with them,
Yes…they carry us…in their hearts;
It’s just our body…that has left,
The ‘real’ one shall never depart.
So, carry you’re loved-one…in your heart,
For that is where they shall forever stay;
Hold them close…while they are here,
When they ‘go’…they’re not really ‘away’.
Yes, it’s that LAST GREAT ADVENTURE,
Not a thing for us to dread;
We’re free…our spirit soars,
Only from life’s cares…we’ve fled!
